Day 4 and 5

OK.  Stop your wining.  I know I missed a day on the blog and it's gonna happen. Get over it. We've had a lot of fun the past two days and have been busy.

The truth is, we've been having so much fun with Mike and Jane / Tim and Karen that I've been too tired to post a blog before going to bed.  But...  Here's a synopsis and I'll try to fill in the blanks at a later time.

Yesterday, Laura and I took a walk around an old cranberry bog near Mike and Jane's house.  It was a beautiful day - sunny and warm.  We got a little exercise (about a mile walk) then drove back to the house for a swim.   Here is a picture of the cranberry tree / bush.  I've tried to circle around the infant cranberries.

After our walk we decided to take the rest of the afternoon off and just hung out around Mike and Jane's.  We swam in the pool and caught up on some odd jobs but mostly didn't do much of anything.  Around 2pm, Mike came home from work and said Tim and Karen would be arriving shortly.  They drove up a little while later and said the traffic on I-90 was terrible.  Probably typical for a Friday afternoon in the beginning of August.

We had cocktails then Mike and Jane drove us all to the Duxbury beach.  They have a resident pass to the beach but the ocean side was full so we parked around the bay side and set up chairs for a little relaxing.  Laura, Karen and Jane walked around the sandy beach at low tide while the guys relaxed and talked.  Back to the house for a great dinner of Sirloin tips, asparagus, salad and little roasted potatoes.  After dinner Mike and I played some guitar then we retired to the camper for a good night's sleep.

This morning, Mike and Jane made us all Eggs Benedict - Karen and I excluded the sauce.

Laura and I did some shopping today for a few things we were missing on the camper like pillows and tire pressure gauge.  Oh.  Speaking of tire pressure - Mike had an air compressor and gauge so we checked the tires on the trailer.  We had stopped at a gas station two days ago because the trailer tires looked a little low.  We wanted to make sure there was 50 PSI in the tires as specified.  All (4) tires on the trailer were about 28 PSI instead of 50.  We put LOTS of air in the tires to bring them up to where they were supposed to be.  So much for gas station air compressors.  I'm looking forward now to towing again to see if it's different.

Bill Tip - Bring your own tire gauge (a good one) and don't rely on gas station air pumps for correct pressure.

Around noon we packed up the 4Runner and headed to the beach again.  It was full of cars but we parked near the walkway and hauled everything over the sand dunes to set up camp.  It worked our very nice and we had a perfect place to enjoy the ocean and other sights for several hours.

Here was our "camp" on the Duxbusy Beach.  We brought lots of munchies and cocktails which we started kind of early in the day.

The water was very chilly - about 60 - but Mike and I decided to take the plunge.  Neither of us stayed in for very long.

Later in the afternoon, Jane decided to take her paddle-board out and did a great job of staying out of the water with the light ocean waves.  If you click on this picture and zoom on, you can see Jane on the paddle-board.

Around 5pm we packed up and moved the party to Mike and Jane's pool.  More cocktails, munchies and good times were had by all. Mike and I played Uke and guitar while sitting around the pool and it was lots of fun.

Mike had been smoking ribs all day and we sat down for dinner around 7:30 to awesome ribs and all the fixin's.  After dinner we played guitar and sang for several hours.  I tried to take some videos but it seemed that none of them captured our great playing and singing expertise.  Oh well...

Tommorow we will reluctantly leave here to continue our trip north.  We've joked about maybe being Mike and Jane's caretakers for a few months but we should be moving on.  We will definitely miss them and the great fun we've had here in Duxbury.

Oh, we did get gas today and the 10 MPG continues.  So be it....

Day 4 - No miles and no dollars (Yea!)

Day 5-
     18 miles (no trailer) - 308 total
     $155.25 ($469.25 total)
$103 Walmart - sofa pillows, tire gauge, stuff...
